The New Renfrew Health & Social Work Centre ...

Staff in all 3 Practices have already started planning for the big move down to the other end of the Town.   If you look into the reception area you will notice most of the Medical Records have coloured stripes prominently placed of the side spines.  Each Practice has a specific colour and this colour will be used to determine exactly which Practice each Medical Record ‘belongs’ to when we move all (23,000!!!) records to the new record storage facility in the new Health Centre.   Most of you are probably aware that we no longer  use the old style medical record as all of your information is now kept on a computer based record system.   We would only use the old style record if Doctor or Nurse needs to access historical information.   For that reason we do not need to have the records readily available.

We will still have access to them as and when we need them but they will not be kept in the reception area.  They will be kept in a locked storage room directly next to the GP Practices and only GP staff will have access to the storage facility.

As we approach spring the Practices will be having a spring clean!   We will clearing out cupboards, drawers, filing cabinets etc and only taking to the new Centre what we actually need!   Any paperwork no longer required will be bagged and security tagged and shredded as confidential waste.   This shredding is done on site and under strict security.  Hopefully by the end of Summer/early Autumn we will be almost ready for the move.
